Corveau

Corveau is a the brand vision behind the work of writer and stage producer Maryam S. Holleman. Their goal was to build a professional digital presence ahead of Edinburgh Fringe, but through our discovery, the vibe we found was “straight-up street.”

Texture and a human touch were very important to the concept, pulling in elements from graffiti, street posters, and hand sketches. Combining visuals of ravens (a play on the french “Corbeau”), quill pens, and the letter C, we came up with a logo that meshes an urban font with the airiness of feathers.

Rather than a library of standard UI assets, the client put their touch into the visuals directly, scanning sheets of their pen scribbles, marker strokes, and paint splashes. These were digitized to become elements on the website to establish the grunge aesthetic.

When you have a specific vision, you require a designer you can trust in the collaboration process; Working with Ethan in the creation of my logo was an absolute dream. I knew what I wanted--yet didn't--and with constant contact and his insightful feedback, we were able to create a logo that not only blew my mind, but one I will have for years and years.
